One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird Description
One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird is a basketball video game developed by Eric Hammond and published by Electronic Arts (EA) in 1983 for various platforms, including the Apple II, Atari 8-bit, Commodore 64, and MS-DOS. The game features two basketball legends, Julius Erving (Dr. J) and Larry Bird, competing in a series of one-on-one matchups.
The game was one of the earliest sports simulation games to feature real-life athletes and was praised for its realistic basketball gameplay and smooth animations. It was also notable for its use of voice synthesis technology, which allowed the players to taunt each other during the game.
One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird was a commercial success and spawned several sequels, including One on One: Jordan vs. Bird, released in 1988, which featured Michael Jordan alongside Bird. The game is still considered a classic in the sports video game genre and is remembered for its innovative gameplay, realistic graphics, and memorable sound effects.
