The Ratchet & Clank video game franchise is a series of platformer and third-person shooter games developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment (now known as Sony Interactive Entertainment). The franchise began with the first game, “Ratchet & Clank,” which was released in 2002 for the PlayStation 2.

The games follow the adventures of Ratchet, a Lombax mechanic, and his sidekick Clank, a small sentient robot. The duo travels through various planets, fighting enemies and collecting items to aid them in their journey. Along the way, they encounter various other characters, both allies and enemies.

The franchise has received critical acclaim for its unique gameplay mechanics, well-developed characters, and humorous tone. In addition to the main series of games, the franchise has also expanded to include spin-off titles, such as “Ratchet: Deadlocked,” “Secret Agent Clank,” and “Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.”

The franchise has also received a film adaptation, which was released in 2016.
