Game Description

“Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit” is a unique and innovative racing game developed by Velan Studios and published by Nintendo. It was released on October 16, 2020, for the Nintendo Switch platform.

The game combines physical toys with augmented reality (AR) technology to create a one-of-a-kind gaming experience. Players use real-life remote-controlled toy karts modeled after iconic Mario Kart characters like Mario or Luigi. The karts are equipped with a camera that streams live video to the Nintendo Switch console.

Players set up physical race tracks in their own homes using the provided cardboard gates and various household objects. The Nintendo Switch console then uses the AR technology to overlay the virtual elements, such as coins, item boxes, and opponents, onto the live video feed from the kart’s camera. This creates the illusion of racing through a virtual Mario Kart world in the real world.

As players drive their toy karts around the track, they can collect virtual items like banana peels and shells to hinder their opponents. The game also features familiar Mario Kart power-ups, such as mushrooms for speed boosts and shells to attack opponents.

The real-time AR experience makes each race dynamic and interactive, as players must dodge obstacles and navigate through the virtual elements to complete the course.

The game includes various single-player and multiplayer modes. In single-player, players can race against AI-controlled karts and unlock new customization options for their in-game avatar. In multiplayer mode, up to four players can compete in split-screen or wireless local play.

The mix of physical toys, augmented reality, and classic Mario Kart gameplay makes “Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit” a highly engaging and immersive experience for players of all ages. It encourages creativity as players design their own tracks and interact with the game in a physical way, blurring the lines between the real and virtual worlds.

As with many Nintendo games, “Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit” is known for its family-friendly appeal, providing a fun and entertaining experience that brings the beloved Mario Kart franchise to life in a whole new way.
