The Pilotwings franchise is a series of flight simulation games developed by Nintendo. The first game, Pilotwings, was released in 1990 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and was designed to showcase the console’s Mode 7 graphics.
In the game, players control a character who trains to become a licensed pilot, completing various aerial challenges such as flying through rings, landing on targets, and performing stunts. The game received critical acclaim and was praised for its innovative graphics and gameplay.

A third game, Pilotwings Resort, was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011. It takes place on Wuhu Island, the same location as Wii Sports Resort, and features a variety of aerial challenges using different aircraft, including a hang glider, a jet pack, and a plane.
