Game Description
“Pilotwings Resort” is a flight simulation video game developed by Monster Games and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS handheld console. It was released in 2011 as a launch title for the 3DS system.
The game takes place on Wuhu Island, the same location featured in “Wii Sports Resort” for the Wii console. In “Pilotwings Resort,” players join the Wuhu Island Flight Club and participate in various flight training missions using different aircraft and flying apparatuses.
The training exercises in “Pilotwings Resort” include:
1. Plane: Players pilot a light airplane and must complete tasks such as flying through rings, landing smoothly, and performing aerobatic maneuvers.
2. Rocket Belt: Similar to the earlier “Pilotwings” games, players wear a rocket belt and must fly through rings and complete aerial challenges.
3. Hang Glider: Pilots control a hang glider and glide through the air, collecting stars and performing tricks to earn points.
The game utilizes the 3DS’s stereoscopic 3D capabilities to provide players with a sense of depth and immersion while flying around the picturesque Wuhu Island. The island’s beautiful landscapes and vibrant environments add to the enjoyment of the flying experience.
As players progress through the game, they unlock new flight challenges and more challenging missions. “Pilotwings Resort” also offers a free flight mode, allowing players to explore Wuhu Island at their leisure and take in the sights from the skies.
The game received generally positive reviews from critics, praising its charming presentation, intuitive controls, and fun flight mechanics. The 3D effects were also well-received, enhancing the overall experience of soaring through the island’s skies.
“Pilotwings Resort” successfully brought the enjoyable flight simulation gameplay of the “Pilotwings” series to the Nintendo 3DS, making it a solid addition to the handheld console’s launch lineup.
