Game Description
Operation Wolf is a shooting game developed and published by Taito for arcades in 1987. It was later ported to various home gaming systems, including the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Commodore 64, and ZX Spectrum.
The game is set in a military-themed environment and the player assumes the role of a Special Forces operative tasked with rescuing hostages from enemy forces. The game uses a fixed-position shooting interface and the player uses a mounted machine gun to shoot at oncoming enemies, vehicles, and obstacles. The game also features a variety of power-ups and weapons that can be picked up throughout the levels.
Operation Wolf was popular upon its release and is often considered one of the classic arcade games of the 1980s. The game’s success led to the development of a sequel, Operation Thunderbolt, and several similar games were released by Taito and other developers in the years that followed.
