Game Description
Double Dragon is a side-scrolling beat ’em up game developed by Technos Japan and released in arcades in 1987. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where two brothers, Billy and Jimmy Lee, must fight their way through hordes of enemies to rescue Billy’s girlfriend, Marian.
In Double Dragon, players control either Billy or Jimmy Lee as they move from left to right across the game’s levels, defeating enemies with punches, kicks, and various weapons such as knives and baseball bats. The game also features a cooperative two-player mode, which allows players to team up and fight together.
Throughout the game, players can collect power-ups such as extra lives, health, and new moves to aid them in their quest. Double Dragon also introduced a combo system, which allows players to execute more powerful attacks by stringing together different moves.
Double Dragon was a commercial success and was ported to numerous home consoles and computers. The game spawned several sequels and spin-offs, as well as a successful animated TV series and a live-action movie. Double Dragon is regarded as one of the most influential and important beat ’em up games of all time, and it has had a lasting impact on the genre.
