The Double Dragon video game franchise is a series of side-scrolling beat ’em up games developed by Technos Japan Corp. The first game in the series, “Double Dragon,” was released in 1987 in arcades and was later ported to numerous home consoles. It is considered one of the pioneers of the beat ’em up genre and was very popular in its time.

The game follows the story of two brothers, Billy and Jimmy Lee, who are martial artists that must fight their way through hordes of enemies to rescue Billy’s girlfriend, Marian, who has been kidnapped by the Black Warriors gang. The game features a variety of moves and weapons that the player can use to defeat enemies, as well as co-op play for two players.

The success of the first game led to numerous sequels and spin-offs, including “Double Dragon II: The Revenge,” “Double Dragon III: The Rosetta Stone,” “Double Dragon IV,” and “Double Dragon Neon.” The franchise has also been adapted into a movie, an animated series, and a comic book series.
