The Just Cause video game franchise is an action-adventure video game series developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Square Enix. The series began with the release of Just Cause in 2006 and has since been followed by three sequels and several spin-offs.
The original Just Cause game was released in 2006 for Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC. The game featured an open-world environment where players could explore various locations, complete missions, and cause chaos by using a variety of vehicles and weapons.
In 2010, Just Cause 2 was released, which improved upon the gameplay mechanics of the original game and introduced a larger game world. The game was set in a fictional Southeast Asian island nation called Panau and featured an even greater emphasis on over-the-top action and explosions.
Just Cause 3 was released in 2015 and continued the series’ tradition of open-world gameplay and action-packed adventure. The game introduced a new storyline and enhanced graphics, along with new features such as the ability to tether multiple objects together.
Most recently, Just Cause 4 was released in 2018. The game featured a new setting in the fictional South American country of Solis, along with improved graphics and new gameplay mechanics such as extreme weather conditions.
In addition to the main series, several spin-offs have also been released, including Just Cause: Mobile, Just Cause: Grappling Hook, and Just Cause: Scorpion Rising. The Just Cause franchise has been generally well-received by critics and is known for its over-the-top action, open-world exploration, and destructible environments.
