Game Description
Urban Champion is a 2D fighting video game released by Nintendo in 1984 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was one of the earliest fighting games and features two players fighting each other in a side-scrolling environment.
In Urban Champion, players take control of two characters, each trying to knock the other out by landing punches to the head and body. Players can also push each other into open manholes on the street for an instant win. The game features a single street with two buildings on either side, and players can move up and down the street to dodge punches and gain the upper hand.
Despite being one of Nintendo’s earliest titles, Urban Champion was not as successful as some of its other games. It received mixed reviews and was criticized for its simplistic gameplay and lack of variety. Nevertheless, it helped pave the way for the fighting game genre and inspired other titles such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.
