Game Description

Tetris is a classic puzzle video game that was first developed by Russian game designer Alexey Pajitnov in 1984. The game was inspired by a puzzle game called Pentomino, which uses geometric shapes to fill a space.

In Tetris, players manipulate falling tetrominoes (four-block shapes) that fall from the top of the screen, moving them left or right and rotating them so they fit together in horizontal lines without gaps. The player must clear lines to prevent the stack of tetrominoes from reaching the top of the screen, which would end the game.

Tetris became a sensation in the 1980s and 1990s, popularized by its inclusion on Nintendo’s Game Boy handheld system. Its addictive gameplay and catchy music have made it one of the most recognizable and beloved video games of all time.

The game’s popularity also led to legal disputes over ownership and licensing rights, with multiple companies claiming ownership of the game’s intellectual property. Despite these controversies, Tetris remains a staple in video game culture, with numerous adaptations and spin-offs across different platforms and gaming systems.
