Super Mario World is a side-scrolling platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). The game was released in 1990 and is the fourth main installment in the Super Mario series. The game follows Mario and his brother Luigi as they set out to save Dinosaur Land from the evil Bowser and his Koopalings.
The game features many new gameplay mechanics, such as Mario’s ability to spin jump and ride Yoshi, a dinosaur who can eat enemies and gain special abilities by consuming different-colored shells. Super Mario World also introduced the concept of non-linear levels with multiple exits, hidden areas, and secret levels. The game was critically acclaimed and is considered one of the greatest video games of all time. It has since been re-released on various Nintendo platforms, including the Virtual Console and the Super NES Classic Edition.
