Game Description

“Romance of the Three Kingdoms” is a turn-based strategy game originally released in 1985 by the Japanese video game company Koei (now Koei Tecmo). The game is based on the historical novel “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” by Luo Guanzhong, which depicts the events that occurred during the late Eastern Han dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period in China (AD 169–280).

In the game, players take on the role of a ruler in one of the many factions vying for control of China. The goal is to conquer all other factions and become the ruler of a unified China. The gameplay involves managing resources, recruiting and training troops, making alliances, and engaging in battles.

“Romance of the Three Kingdoms” was well-received upon its release and became the first game in Koei’s long-running strategy series of the same name. The game was praised for its historical accuracy and detailed simulation of the time period, as well as its deep gameplay mechanics. It has since spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs, and is considered one of the classic video game franchises in the strategy genre.
