Game Description
“Moon Cresta” is a shoot ’em up arcade game released by Nichibutsu in 1980. The game is notable for introducing a new gameplay mechanic called “dock & merge”, where players could dock their ship with an attached piece to form a more powerful ship. The game’s objective is to destroy waves of alien ships while avoiding their attacks.
The game was very popular in arcades and was ported to several home consoles and computer systems, including the Atari 2600, Commodore 64, and ZX Spectrum. It was also included in various retro gaming collections.
“Moon Cresta” was influential in the shoot ’em up genre and inspired many similar games in the years that followed. It is considered a classic of the golden age of arcade games.
