Game Description

“Mega Man Battle Network 3” is a role-playing video game developed by Capcom for the Game Boy Advance. Released in 2002 (Japan) and 2003 (North America), it is the third installment in the “Mega Man Battle Network” series.

Continuing the unique spin-off series, players once again step into the shoes of Lan Hikari and his virtual avatar, MegaMan.EXE, in a world where the Internet and the real world are closely intertwined. The gameplay combines real-world exploration with battles that take place in the virtual Cyberworld.

“Mega Man Battle Network 3” introduces two different versions of the game: “White Version” and “Blue Version.” While both versions share the same core gameplay and overall story, they feature slight variations in gameplay elements, story events, and available battle chips.

The game’s storyline centers around a new threat: a mysterious organization known as Nebula. Lan and MegaMan.EXE must unravel Nebula’s intentions and put a stop to their schemes, which involve manipulating viruses and causing chaos in the Cyberworld.

The core battle system remains largely unchanged from previous entries, with players navigating MegaMan.EXE on a grid-based field and using battle chips to defeat enemies. However, “Mega Man Battle Network 3” introduces several enhancements to the battle system, such as the ability to charge MegaMan’s Buster for more powerful shots and the inclusion of “Soul” abilities that grant special powers based on defeated enemies.

In addition to the main storyline, the game features various side quests, tournaments, and minigames that offer additional challenges and rewards. The game also introduces “Link Battles,” which allow players to connect with friends and engage in battles using their customized battle folders.

“Mega Man Battle Network 3” received positive reviews for its improvements to the battle system, enhanced customization options, and engaging storyline. The inclusion of two different versions encouraged trading and interaction among players to collect all the available battle chips and experience both versions of the story. The success of “Mega Man Battle Network 3” solidified the series’ place as a unique and beloved spin-off of the Mega Man franchise, paving the way for further sequels and adaptations.
