Game Description

“Lunar Rescue” is a classic arcade game that was first released by Taito in 1979. In the game, players control a spacecraft and must navigate it through a series of obstacles in order to rescue stranded astronauts from the surface of the moon.

The game is notable for being one of the earliest examples of a scrolling shooter game, where the action on the screen continuously moves forward as the player progresses through the game. “Lunar Rescue” was also one of the first arcade games to feature a high score table, which allowed players to compete against each other for the highest score.

“Lunar Rescue” was fairly popular during its time and was ported to several home video game consoles, including the Atari 2600 and the Intellivision. The game’s simple but addictive gameplay and early innovations helped to pave the way for many of the scrolling shooter games that would become popular in the following years.
