Game Description
Kung-Fu Master, also known as Spartan X in Japan, is a popular side-scrolling arcade game released by Irem in 1984. In the game, the player takes on the role of Thomas, a martial arts expert who must rescue his girlfriend Sylvia from the clutches of a crime syndicate known as the “X Gang.”
Kung-Fu Master was one of the first games to popularize the beat ’em up genre and was highly influential in the development of subsequent games in the genre such as Double Dragon and Final Fight. The game’s popularity led to numerous ports to home consoles and computers, including the Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari 2600, and Commodore 64.
Kung-Fu Master was well-received for its fluid animation, challenging gameplay, and fast-paced action. It has since become a classic of the arcade era and is remembered as a seminal title in the history of beat ’em up games.
