Game Description

Gumshoe is a side-scrolling action video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1986. The game was notable for being one of the first NES games to use the NES Zapper light gun peripheral.

In Gumshoe, the player controls a detective named Mr. Stevenson, who must rescue his daughter Jennifer from a gang of criminals. The game is played from a side-scrolling perspective and features a variety of obstacles and enemies that Mr. Stevenson must overcome, including pits, spikes, and flying birds.

The player uses the NES Zapper to shoot targets on the screen, which allows Mr. Stevenson to jump and move forward. The game also features power-ups and items that can be collected, including health items and extra lives.

Gumshoe received mixed reviews upon its release, with some critics praising its use of the NES Zapper and unique gameplay, while others criticized its high difficulty level and repetitive gameplay. Despite this, the game has become a cult classic among NES enthusiasts and is remembered as one of the first games to use the NES Zapper in a non-shooting game.
