Game Description
Crime and Punishment is a text adventure game developed and published by MicroProse in 1984. Based on the classic novel of the same name by Fyodor Dostoevsky, the game follows the story of Raskolnikov, a destitute student who commits a gruesome murder and must deal with the psychological consequences. The player takes on the role of Raskolnikov and must navigate a branching narrative while dealing with themes of guilt, morality, and redemption. The game features a text-based interface and is notable for its mature subject matter and literary ambitions. While not a commercial success, Crime and Punishment is considered a landmark in the history of video game storytelling.
