Game Description

“Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced” is a platforming video game developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Universal Interactive for the Game Boy Advance. Released in 2003, it is the eighth installment in the “Crash Bandicoot” series and a direct sequel to “Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure” (known as “Crash Bandicoot XS” in Europe).

Key features and elements of “Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced” include:

  1. Continuation of the Story: The game follows the story of the previous installment, where Crash and Coco Bandicoot must once again thwart the plans of their arch-nemesis, Dr. Neo Cortex, and his new partner, N. Trance.

  2. Platforming Gameplay: Similar to the previous game, “N-Tranced” features traditional 2D platforming gameplay with a focus on running, jumping, and defeating enemies across various levels.

  3. Power-Ups and Abilities: Crash can collect power-ups such as Aku Aku masks for protection and invincibility, as well as engage in vehicle-based levels, like riding a jetboard.

  4. Boss Battles: Each of the game’s worlds features a boss battle against one of Cortex’s henchmen. These battles require strategic thinking to defeat them and progress.

  5. Hidden Collectibles: The game includes hidden collectibles like gems, crystals, and relics that players can find by completing challenges, breaking crates, and racing against time.

  6. Alternate Playable Characters: In certain levels, players can control other characters from the Crash universe, including Coco Bandicoot and Crunch Bandicoot, each with their own unique abilities.

  7. N-Trance’s Hypnotic Abilities: The central mechanic of the game involves N. Trance’s hypnotic powers, which are used to create special effects, manipulate gravity, and alter level layouts.

  8. Bonus Stages: Bonus stages are scattered throughout the game, offering additional challenges and opportunities to collect extra lives and power-ups.

  9. Visual and Audio Design: The game retains the colorful and lively visual style of the “Crash Bandicoot” series. The sound effects and music contribute to the playful atmosphere.

  10. Game Link Cable Support: The game offers multiplayer modes for up to four players through the Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable.

“Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced” was generally well-received for its faithful adaptation of the series’ gameplay to the handheld platform. While offering a similar experience to its predecessor, the addition of N. Trance’s hypnotic powers and the inclusion of alternate playable characters brought new elements to the gameplay. The game continues the tradition of providing enjoyable platforming challenges with a unique twist for fans of the “Crash Bandicoot” series.
