The Nintendo Virtual Boy is a 3D gaming console that was released by Nintendo in 1995. It was designed to create an immersive 3D gaming experience by using a stereoscopic display technology that projected red monochromatic images to each of the player’s eyes, creating the illusion of depth.
The console was unique in its design, as it was a tabletop device that players would rest their heads on to play, instead of a handheld or stationary console. The Virtual Boy also included a controller with dual directional pads, and a set of buttons, which players used to navigate through the games.
Despite its innovative technology, the Virtual Boy was not a commercial success, largely due to its high price, limited game library, and the discomfort caused by extended gameplay sessions. As a result, Nintendo discontinued the Virtual Boy only a few months after its launch, and it remains one of the company’s most infamous products.
