Game Description
Cobra Command is a video game developed by Data East and released in arcades in 1988. It was later ported to various home gaming platforms, including the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), the Sega CD, and the TurboGrafx-16.
In the game, the player controls a helicopter and must navigate through various levels, shooting down enemy aircraft and avoiding obstacles. The game uses full-motion video technology to provide a cinematic experience, with pre-recorded footage of actual locations and actors portraying enemy pilots.
Cobra Command was well-received upon its release, praised for its innovative use of full-motion video and fast-paced gameplay. However, the home console ports received mixed reviews, with critics noting that the game’s graphics and gameplay did not translate well to the limitations of home gaming consoles.
Despite its mixed reception, Cobra Command is considered a classic arcade game and is remembered for its use of full-motion video technology, which was still relatively new at the time of its release.
