Game Description

Athena is a side-scrolling platform video game developed and published by SNK Corporation in 1986. It was initially released as an arcade game and later ported to several home consoles, including the NES and the Commodore 64.

In Athena, the player controls a young warrior princess named Athena, who sets out on a quest to save her kingdom from evil creatures and bosses. The game is divided into several levels, and the player must guide Athena through each level while avoiding obstacles and enemies.

Athena can attack enemies with a variety of weapons, including a sword and a bow and arrow, and she can also acquire different power-ups that grant her special abilities. For example, she can gain the ability to fly or to throw fireballs.

The game’s levels are filled with hidden rooms and secret items that can be found by exploring and solving puzzles. The game’s visuals and music are inspired by Greek mythology, and many of the game’s enemies and bosses are based on creatures from Greek legends.

Athena was one of the earliest games developed by SNK, which later became known for its fighting games, such as the popular King of Fighters series. Although Athena was not as successful as some of SNK’s later games, it is still remembered by fans for its challenging gameplay and distinctive art style.
