The game follows the story of a young alchemist named Klein Kiesling, who lives in the village of Daphne. One day, he discovers a mysterious book known as the Klein Chronicle, which allows him to visit the world of Mana, a place filled with powerful Mana spirits and ancient ruins. Together with his childhood friend, Lita Blanchimont, Klein embarks on a journey to uncover the secrets of Mana and the Klein Chronicle.
