Game Description
Asteroids is a classic arcade video game developed and published by Atari, Inc. in 1979. It is considered one of the most important and influential games in video game history, and is credited with popularizing the “twin-stick” control scheme and the use of vector graphics.
In the game, the player controls a spaceship in a two-dimensional, wraparound space environment filled with asteroids and other objects. The player must shoot and destroy the asteroids while avoiding collisions with them and with enemy saucers that appear periodically.
Asteroids was a huge success for Atari, and has since been ported to many different platforms and included in numerous compilations of classic video games. It is still widely regarded as a classic and continues to be enjoyed by retro gaming enthusiasts.
