list of WCW video gamesThe WCW video game franchise refers to a series of professional wrestling video games that were based on the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW) promotion. These games were developed and published by various companies, including THQ, Electronic Arts, and Asmik Ace Entertainment.

The first WCW video game was “WCW Wrestling,” released in 1990 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was followed by “WCW World Championship Wrestling” for the NES in 1991. These early games featured a limited roster of WCW wrestlers and basic gameplay mechanics.

The franchise gained popularity with the release of “WCW vs. nWo: World Tour” for the Nintendo 64 in 1997. This game, developed by AKI Corporation, featured an expanded roster of wrestlers and improved gameplay mechanics, including a new grappling system. It was followed by “WCW/nWo Revenge” in 1998 and “WCW Mayhem” in 1999.

After the demise of WCW in 2001, the franchise continued with games based on the WWE (formerly WWF) and TNA (now Impact Wrestling) promotions. However, the WCW games are still remembered fondly by fans for their unique roster and gameplay mechanics, and for capturing the spirit of the late 90s “Monday Night Wars” era of professional wrestling.
