The Tomb Raider video game franchise is a series of action-adventure games that follow the adventures of the archaeologist and adventurer, Lara Croft. The franchise began in 1996 with the release of the first game, titled “Tomb Raider”, and has since grown to include numerous sequels and spin-offs.

The games are primarily developed by British studio Core Design (1996-2003) and then by Crystal Dynamics (2006-present) after a brief hiatus. The gameplay typically involves exploring various tombs and ruins around the world while solving puzzles, fighting enemies, and uncovering secrets.

The franchise has been known for its groundbreaking graphics and immersive gameplay, as well as its strong female protagonist in Lara Croft. In addition to the video games, the franchise has also been expanded to include movies, comic books, and novels.

The series has seen many critical and commercial successes, with several entries receiving high scores and winning numerous awards.
