The Super Robot Wars (or Super Robot Taisen in Japan) is a long-running video game franchise that originated in Japan in 1991. The games are tactical role-playing games that feature various mecha (giant robots) from a variety of anime and manga series, including Gundam, Mazinger Z, and Evangelion, among others.
The gameplay of Super Robot Wars involves commanding a team of mecha in turn-based battles against enemies. The games usually include a mix of original storylines and reimagined scenarios from the anime and manga series that the mecha are from.
The franchise has since expanded to include numerous sequels, spin-offs, and adaptations, with games released on a variety of platforms including the Nintendo Game Boy, PlayStation, and more recently, mobile devices.
