The Strider game franchise is a series of action-adventure and platforming video games developed and published by Capcom. The franchise debuted in 1989 with the release of the original “Strider” arcade game. The game was designed by Koichi Yotsui, who also worked on the original “Street Fighter” game.

The original “Strider” game was a side-scrolling action game where players control the protagonist Strider Hiryu, a ninja who is tasked with eliminating the evil Grandmaster Meio. The game was notable for its fast-paced gameplay and innovative mechanics, such as the ability to climb walls and ceilings, and the use of a plasma sword.

The success of the original “Strider” game led to the development of several sequels and spin-offs, including “Strider II” in 1990, “Strider Returns: Journey from Darkness” in 1992, and “Strider 2” in 1999. The franchise also received a reboot in 2014 with the release of a new game simply titled “Strider”, which was developed by Double Helix Games and published by Capcom.

In addition to the main series, the Strider character has also appeared in other Capcom games, such as the “Marvel vs. Capcom” series and “Project X Zone”. The franchise has been well-received by critics and has developed a dedicated fan base over the years.
