The Space Quest video game franchise is a series of science fiction adventure games developed by Sierra On-Line. The franchise began with the release of “Space Quest: The Sarien Encounter” in 1986 and continued with several sequels over the following decade. The games are known for their humorous writing and cartoonish graphics, as well as their challenging puzzles and innovative gameplay mechanics.

The main character of the series is Roger Wilco, a hapless janitor who is thrust into a series of interstellar adventures. The games take place in a variety of locations, including a space station, a planet-wide mall, and a sentient planet.

The franchise saw significant success throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, with its popularity peaking in the early 1990s. However, with the advent of 3D gaming and the decline of the adventure game genre, the series began to lose its popularity. The last game in the franchise, “Space Quest 6: Roger Wilco in the Spinal Frontier,” was released in 1995, and no new games have been released since then. Despite this, the franchise has retained a dedicated fan base, and many of the games are still available for purchase on digital storefronts.
