The Klonoa video game franchise is a platforming series developed by Namco (now Bandai Namco) that first began in 1997. The games center around the adventures of Klonoa, a friendly creature with big ears and a ring on his head, who travels through various dreamlike worlds to save them from destruction.
The first game in the series, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, was released on the PlayStation in 1997 and was praised for its inventive gameplay mechanics and emotional story. It was later ported to the Wii in 2008 with updated graphics and new features.
Several sequels and spin-offs followed, including Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil for the PlayStation 2, Klonoa Heroes: Densetsu no Star Medal for the Game Boy Advance, and Klonoa: Empire of Dreams for the Game Boy Advance.
While the series has not seen a new release since 2009’s Klonoa: Dream Traveler of Noctis Sol, Klonoa remains a beloved character in the gaming community, and there has been occasional talk of a potential reboot or sequel in the future.
