List of Half-Life Video Games and Stats (2023)

The Half-Life video game franchise is a series of first-person shooter games developed by Valve Corporation. The series is set in the science fiction world of Black Mesa, a research facility in New Mexico that becomes the site of a disastrous experiment that opens a portal to another dimension.

The first game in the series, Half-Life, was released in 1998 to critical acclaim. It followed the adventures of Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist who must fight his way through Black Mesa after the experiment goes wrong and releases hostile alien creatures.

The game’s success led to the release of several expansion packs, including Half-Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life: Blue Shift. These expansion packs allowed players to experience the events of Half-Life from different perspectives, playing as a member of the Black Mesa security team or a scientist.

In 2004, Valve released Half-Life 2, which took place several years after the events of the first game. The game introduced new characters, enemies, and gameplay mechanics, and was praised for its impressive graphics and physics engine.

Two additional episodes were released for Half-Life 2: Episode One and Episode Two. These episodes continued the story of Gordon Freeman and his allies as they fought against the Combine, an alien empire that had invaded Earth.

The Half-Life franchise has been widely praised for its innovative gameplay, immersive world-building, and engaging characters. The series has won numerous awards, including multiple Game of the Year awards, and has been cited as a major influence on the first-person shooter genre.

Despite the critical and commercial success of the Half-Life series, Valve has yet to release a third game in the franchise. However, the company has released a number of spin-offs, including the multiplayer game Team Fortress Classic and the cooperative game Portal 2, which take place in the same universe as Half-Life.
