List of Guitar Hero Video Games and Stats (2024)

The Guitar Hero franchise is a series of rhythm video games that simulate playing a guitar or other musical instruments. The games were developed by Harmonix Music Systems and published by RedOctane for the PlayStation 2 in 2005. The franchise quickly became popular due to its innovative gameplay and selection of licensed music.

In Guitar Hero, players use a guitar-shaped controller to simulate playing various songs. Notes scroll down the screen in time with the music, and players must hit the corresponding buttons on the controller to score points. The series was known for its selection of popular songs from a variety of genres, including classic rock, heavy metal, and pop.

After the release of the first game, Harmonix was acquired by MTV Networks, and the development of the Guitar Hero franchise was taken over by Neversoft and published by Activision. However, the Guitar Hero franchise was revived in 2015 with the release of Guitar Hero Live, which introduced a new guitar controller and a streaming music service. While the franchise has not released any new games since 2015, its legacy continues to influence the music game genre.
