The Gears of War video game franchise is a third-person shooter game series developed by Epic Games, The Coalition, and published by Microsoft Studios. The franchise’s first game was released in 2006 and has since become one of the most popular and successful video game franchises in recent years.

The series takes place on the fictional planet of Sera, which is facing a crisis after a race of creatures called the Locusts emerge from beneath the planet’s surface and begin attacking human cities. The player takes on the role of a soldier in the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) who is tasked with fighting against the Locusts and other enemies to protect humanity.

The franchise has a total of five main games, with the latest release being Gears 5 in 2019. The series is known for its intense gameplay, cinematic storytelling, and groundbreaking graphics, as well as its unique and memorable characters such as Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad. The series has also spawned numerous spin-off titles, merchandise, and other media.
