list of Fire Emblem video gamesFire Emblem is a tactical role-playing video game franchise developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. The franchise is known for its challenging gameplay, memorable characters, and intricate storylines.

The first game in the series, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, was released in Japan in 1990 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The game introduced the signature Fire Emblem gameplay mechanics, including the permadeath system where characters who die in battle are gone for good, and the weapon triangle system where certain weapons are stronger or weaker against other types.

While the first few Fire Emblem games were only released in Japan, the franchise gained popularity in the west with the release of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade (simply titled Fire Emblem outside of Japan) for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. This game marked the first time the series was officially released outside of Japan and introduced a new generation of fans to the franchise.

Since then, the Fire Emblem franchise has become a staple of Nintendo’s video game lineup, with numerous sequels and spin-offs being released for various Nintendo consoles and handhelds, including the Nintendo Switch, 3DS, and Wii. The franchise has also been adapted into other media, including anime, manga, and a trading card game. The most recent mainline entry in the series, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019 and received critical acclaim for its deep and engaging gameplay and story.
