Earthworm Jim is a video game franchise that began with the release of the original Earthworm Jim game in 1994. The game was created by Doug TenNapel, designed by David Perry, and published by Shiny Entertainment. It was originally released for the Sega Genesis, but was later ported to other platforms including the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy Advance, and Sega CD.

The game follows the adventures of Jim, an earthworm who gains superhuman abilities after being placed in a high-tech suit by a dying extraterrestrial. The game features platforming gameplay and is known for its humor and quirky characters.

The success of the first game led to the development of several sequels and spin-offs, including Earthworm Jim 2, Earthworm Jim 3D, and Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy. The franchise also spawned a cartoon series and a line of action figures.
