list of Doom video gamesThe Doom video game franchise is a series of first-person shooter games created by id Software. The series began with the release of the original Doom game in 1993, which quickly became a cultural phenomenon and helped popularize the first-person shooter genre.

The original game followed an unnamed marine who battles through a military research facility on Mars that has been overrun by demons. The game’s fast-paced gameplay, intense action, and horror elements set a new standard for first-person shooters and influenced many games that followed.

Doom II: Hell on Earth was released in 1994 and featured similar gameplay, but with new levels and enemies. The game was even more successful than the original and further cemented Doom’s place in gaming history.

Doom 3 was released in 2004 and marked a significant departure from the original games. It featured more horror elements and a more immersive story, with the player taking on the role of a marine on Mars who must fight off demons and possessed humans. The game was a critical and commercial success, but was somewhat divisive among fans of the series.

A reboot of the franchise simply titled “Doom” was released in 2016. This game returned to the series’ roots with fast-paced gameplay and intense action, but also introduced new features like a double-jump and the ability to perform executions on enemies for health and ammo. The game was praised for its excellent single-player campaign and multiplayer modes.

A sequel, Doom Eternal, was released in 2020, featuring even more intense action and new gameplay mechanics, like a grappling hook and a flamethrower to burn enemies for armor. The game was also highly acclaimed and considered one of the best first-person shooters of the year.
