The Bloodstained game franchise is a series of action-adventure games developed by ArtPlay and published by 505 Games. The franchise began with the release of “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night” in 2019, which was created by Koji Igarashi, the creator of the Castlevania series.

The game was developed as a spiritual successor to the Castlevania series, and features a similar side-scrolling action-adventure gameplay style with RPG elements. The game follows the story of Miriam, an orphan who has been cursed with crystal powers that are slowly turning her into a demon. Miriam must explore a gothic castle to find a cure for her curse while battling demons and other supernatural creatures.

The game was funded through a Kickstarter campaign, which raised over $5.5 million in pledges, making it one of the most successful video game crowdfunding campaigns at the time. The game was released to positive reviews, with critics praising its gameplay, visuals, and music.

A prequel game, “Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon,” was also released in 2018, featuring a retro-style 2D gameplay. A sequel to “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night” is currently in development.
