Blaster Master is a series of platforming and shooting video games developed and published by Sunsoft. The franchise began with the release of the original Blaster Master game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1988.

In the game, players control a character named Jason who pilots a high-tech battle tank called SOPHIA III. The game features a combination of side-scrolling platforming and top-down shooting, with players switching between the two perspectives as they progress through the game’s levels.

Blaster Master was well-received by critics and became a popular title for the NES. The game’s success led to the release of a sequel, Blaster Master 2, for the Sega Genesis in 1993. This game featured similar gameplay to the original, but with updated graphics and sound.
